I've been playing with the 'consumer review' version of Windows 8, which is the beta release of the operating system.. and so far, nothing but disappointment.
First I installed it on an old homebuilt machine.. 1 gig processor, 1 gig ram, the min. that windows 8 requires.. and it installed rather quickly, and actually runs smooth.. the problems are within the operating system's interface!
to start with, no more 'start bar'.. everything is boxes like on a windows phone or iphone. If you don't have a touch screen monitor, you will not like this at all. It's rather difficult to get around with a keyboard and mouse.
Secondly, Windows 8 won't let the built in 'Administrator' account open most apps, restricting it to only technical apps, not allowing the account to use any user apps.
Third, every app is set up to send data back to microsoft. If you don't have an internet connection, you'll get a ton of pop ups saying you need one for everything you try to do.
Using a mouse gets easier as you play around with it, but I find trying to 'lift a screen out of the way' or drag one over from the side, doesn't always work as it should, and most people will not get the hang of how to drag and release mouse buttons properly, as it's completely different from previous widows operating systems.
The new interface is going to cause much havoc on work environments. It is not very 'office' friendly... unless your office is the bridge of the starship enterprise.
There is a 'desktop mode' which brings back the start bar, but doesn't seem to be as responsive as it should, even on my big computer with 6 gigs of ram and near 4 gig processor.
My biggest peaves on this operating system is that it relies too much on 'online storage'.. I don't trust online systems with my personal information, and never will.. The interface is crap.. works for phones, but this isn't a phone, and forcing people to buy touch screens, among other things that will be needed for the full effect of the operating system, especially in this bad economy, is nothing more than greed on the part of Microsoft. The constant popups to 'help make things better' are truly annoying, always asking you to join this, and join that.
The lack of support in Internet Explorer 10, not being able and other scripting is really going to piss people off.
Get it together Microsoft, you finally had a good operating system.. Windows 7.. and you're going to screw it up like when Vista was released.

How does illegal file sharing hurt so many people? here's how..
Lets take music for an example...
do people realize how many are involved in the creation and recording of one song? yes, that song on ITunes for 99 cents...
lets start from the beginning.. the song writer or writers.. all who want their share.. the musicians who play the music live and/or in studio (sometimes differentmusicians), they all want to be paid. The attorny's and copyrighters who make it all legal want to get paid, the publisher wants to be paid for the actual publishing of the work, the studio wants to be paid for renting the space and time, the engineers working the studio want to be paid (plus the equipment is expensive).. the msuicians and artist all want mic's to sing into and intruments to play.. again, more money.. the mixer wants to be paid for all his time putting the recordings together into a song, the label wants to be paid for putting out the song. The printers and bindry want to be paid for producing physical packaging for a cd's, the cd manufacturer wants to be paid for making the cd's. the shipper wants to be paid for shipping the cd's to the stores, any investors or sponsors want their money back as they dont invest without that happening.
yes, the 99 cents gets split up between all these people.. not even counting the taxes they all pay on the money they get from it, and ITunes, or whatever online source is selling the download song wants their share for having it on their site.
It's easy to look at numbers in a magazine and say 'that song grossed a million dollars'.. well, maybe it did.. break that million down to everyone who gets their share for making the song and bringing it to you and what's left per person? after taxes and expenses.. and dont forget, the expenses add up (where do they all stay when recording away from their home? where do they eat? how do they get around?)
Now you got all these people stealing this music rather than paying the 99 cents for it.. that's taking the money right out of a lot of good peoples mouths who worked hard for it (if you think making a song is that easy, seriously give it a try one day).
How does the industry revamp some of the loses? higher prices at concerts, higher prices for merchandise, higher prices for those who buy their music legally, music stores go out of business (remember virgin mega store and all the others?).
The same thing goes for videos and movies.. artists don't bother with music videos as much because what is the point if everyone downloads it without paying, then doesn't watch it on TV, so TV networks stop playing videos (remember when MTV played music?). Movie prices go way up because people are downloading the movies illegally. Motion picture studios stop making great movies because of the costs. TV Networks do the same thing, and isntead, recycle old TV shows that don't cost as much to produce.
The answer to all this is simple, but drastic.. go after the people hosting these illegal files, which is what is being done. nfortunatly, innocent people are getting caught in the way, but what real alternative is there? The economy is bad enough, and this situation does not help it.
Plenty of hard working people, in several countries, lsot their jobs when virgin and other mega music stores had to close their doors for good, which was do to the online file sharing. TV networks flood you with commercials now trying to keep up with the costs of programming due to the losses from illegal file sharing (and provide crap program for what they can afford).
These so called Pirates and their organizations promoting file sharing and stealing other peoples work have a lot of people believing it's a good thing, and stopping it is a violation of freedom of speech, of course they do, it's how they make money from it. The truth is, they're nothing but scammers who all deserve to be in prison for a long time, and what does freedom of speech have to do with download music without paying for it?

jealousy and spite.. what's the point?
Would ya believe there are actually some people out there who go around contacting guests of the Josie Show to tell them not to go on the show? we know who it is, as the guests do tell us. What these morons don't realize is many of our guests are our friends.
It's pure jealousy and spite, coming from certain people who are annoyed at the success of the show, and aren't a part of it, as they struggle to make their own do better. Well, this isn't the way to do it, and in the end, they only hurt themselves.
One thing they fail to recognize is The Josie Show is a copyright and trademarked, and gives us very easy legal recourse for suits for slander and deformation, among other things. Usually these suits aren't worth the trouble, but in continued cases, serve a purpose. The people doing it can't afford such a lawsuit, especially if they lose. The court, legal, and attorney fee's would go beyond what they have, never mind the settlement when they ose the cases.. so again I ask, what is the point? what is to be accomplished? it really doesn't hurt our show at all, but does end up hurting the people being so spiteful. Not to mention they just lost a potential guest for themselves by acting like a 2 year old.
I won't even get into the people who think anyone can do a show, and think they're famous before they are.. that will be a blog for another day.

Why are some celebs to off the wall
this has always bugged me. Why are some celebrities so out of their minds?
Even doing a call in radio show, we have had some celebrity guests who have really outragious demands, such as being the only guests on their episode, right down to writing a script themselves and sending it to us, with the questions they want asked, notes on when to laugh, pause, and comments to make, that msut be followed if they are to appear on the show. Has to make you wonder what they are really trying to hide.
Most of all, I can't stand celebrities who have that 'better than you' ego, because they aren't. It's especailly annoying when it's a celebrity whos tarted out from nothing, and forgets who made them famous.
Lets face it folks, celebrities, whther it be music, tv, or whatever, are only as good as the people behind the scenes make them. What good is a musician on stage to perform without the crew and engineers to make the show work? a band to make them sound good? a sound crew to make it all sound good? they would be nothing at all and boo'd out of the building, yet, all these behind the scenes people rarely get any credit, while the celeb they make popular gets everything, including a hyped up ego.
This doesn't go for all celebs, I personally work with many who are very down to earth and appreciative of everything others do, and give back as much as they can.. but these celebs are outnumbered by the 'hollywood' celebs who are really off their rockers.

Farewell Megaupload, and good riddance
Its's about time this huge illegal file sharing systems got what they deserved.
It's also funny how the only people complaining are the ones who share files illegal with no regard to the money lost due to copyright infringements.
Over and over again I hear people saying 'it's only one song, it wont make them broke' or 'it's too expensive to buy, so I have to get it illegally'... very poor excuses. If there wasn't any illegal sharing, prices would be way down. It's nothing but pure greed, and nothing less than greed.
People don't seem to want to hear about how that 99 cents you may pay to download a song or video legally is broken down to pay a lot of other people for their time and work in making it. When someone says 'it's only one song', they aren't taking into account the millions of othgers saying the same thing, now that one 99 cent fee has turned into millions of 99 cent fees not paid, hence, millions of dollars.
Artists in music, TV, etc.. end up taking the loss, which in turn, is money to pay all the engineers, crews, legal fee's, and slew of other things that must be paid for production.
So I have to ask these idiots who are comlaining about sites like MEgauplaod being shut down.. What if you created a song, video, or anything, and people were stealing it and giving it away for free, what would you do?
As someone who works closely with recording artists, I'm glad to see Megaupload go, and hope the others who won't comply with laws and common sense go to.

New Zodiac.. will we survive?
Seriously, what is wrong with people? so there's now 13 zodiac signs, there always was, we just eliminated one because the constellation wasn't visable from earth for a long time... now it is..
People are freaking out over this, like it's going to change who they are... and the best part.. the millions of dollars put into it all! we can't get digital cable TV to stop freezing up on us, but we can rediscover a group of solar systems billions of miles away.
On the bright side, think of all the money that will be dumped back into the economy when thousands of people have to change their zodiac tattooes!
Of all the things to worry about, like hunger, homeless, natural disasters, no jobs, no money, no politicians with a brain cell between them, Zodiac signs are freaking people out. And we all wonder what has happened to the world. We'll.. in the words of Bill Engvall.. Here's Your Sign!

It's been while since I blogged
It's been a while, but here I am... Been kinda busy fixing a few comptuers, and working on a few websites.
There's also Your Time with Josie (at http://josieshow.com/) taking up quite a bit of time, but thats what happens with a radio show, even if it does air only evening a week. It may become a Tv pilot soon, which is still in talks, but looks promising.
The one thing I don't look forward to if the show does go to television is working in the Hollywood area.. I am not a fan of California.. or more accuratly, the phoney's who live there. Hopefully I can avoid them and stick with the real people who are always drowned out by hype and fake ego's that surround them.
I'll also miss my squirrels... but, they'll survive.
anyways, i'm out for tonight, see ya's soon!
